Every control unit in a truck stores the faults it detects. Some codes stay in memory after the cause is gone, for example after a sensor or cable is replaced or AdBlue® is topped up, and keep a warning light on or the engine power reduced. An error code eraser clears these inactive codes from the diagnostic connector in seconds, without a diagnostic computer.

An eraser does not repair a fault. If the cause is still there, the code returns within minutes of driving. Diagnose and repair first, clear second.
