Installation Overview
⚠ Important: Before connecting the emulator, ensure the truck is not in derate mode.
Once the emulator is connected, disabling derate mode will no longer be possible.
The EAS ECU may have faults, but it must remain electrically operational for the emulator to read the VIN during initialization.
The NOx sensor before the catalyst must be functional.
Installation Steps
- Locate the NOx outlet sensor behind the catalyst.
- Connect the emulator in place of the NOx outlet sensor.
- Turn the ignition ON – the emulator LED will flash rapidly while learning the VIN.
- When the LED becomes steady, turn the ignition OFF.
- Remove the EAS ECU fuse:
- Peterbilt® 579 / Kenworth® T680 – N11 fuse
- Peterbilt® 389 – F6 fuse
- Disconnect the following sensors:
- PM sensor
- DEF level / quality sensor
- Exhaust temperature sensor
