Installation Overview
⚠ Important:
Before installing the emulator, the truck must not be in derate mode.
The EAS ECU must still be electrically functional so the emulator can read the vehicle VIN during initialization.
The upstream NOx sensor must remain operational.
Installation Steps
- Locate the NOx sensor after the catalyst (rear section of the exhaust system).
- Install the emulator in place of the downstream NOx sensor.
- Turn ignition ON – the emulator will learn the vehicle VIN (approx. 1 minute).
- Turn ignition OFF.
- Remove the EAS ECU fuse:
- Peterbilt® 579 / Kenworth® T680 – Fuse N11
- Peterbilt® 389 – Fuse F6
- Disconnect the following sensors:
- PM sensor
- DEF level / quality sensor
- Exhaust temperature sensor
- Turn ignition ON again.
- If all DEF / DPF system errors become inactive, install the emulator permanently in the NOx sensor position behind the catalyst.
